Zdenek Schmoranz (1896-1942)
Zdenek's grandfather was Frantisek Schmoranz, Sr., a long-time builder and restorer of mainly church buildings.
Zdenek's main interests were in literature and the theater, especially the marionette theater. His activity brought him recognition as a dramatic author, also the acquaintance of Libena Ostrcilova, actress and member of the National Theater cast, and a passionate promoter of the marionette theater, who was to become his wife.
In the early years of German occupation, Zdenek Schmoranz had held the difficult function of managing the press office of the Czech cabinet. Faithful to his convictions, he joined the anti-fascist resistance and was executed for his activity on 19.8.1942.
