Building of today's Post office at the beginning 20th century.

The façade covers two buildings constructed in 1681 by Filip J.A.Maj, a town merchant and the owner of a mill. The aesthetic original portal bears the owner's initials.

King Friedrich II stayed here and made his headquarters here in 1742, during the Prussian occupation of the city; he later relocated to the former Wiesner house on the present Masaryk Square.

The original baroque façade was changed to a pseudo- renaissance style at the end of the 19th century, and acquired its present cubiform shape after World War I.
