Tales about Hyksa's hell

Modestin's house

Modestin's house

The place occupied today by a small park used to be the site of a home occupied by a man named Hyksa. This man coveted a meadow belonging to a miller, and took advantage of the miller who had become indebted to him, by managing to get the meadow transferred to himself.

The miller on his deathbed then put a curse on Hyksa, which resulted in the latter losing all his wealth except for the meadow he deviously acquired. The meadow had become his hell, and after his own death he was seen on it in the shape of the devil, lamenting and yelling. The meadow was then referred to as Hyksa's hell.
