Lower gate

Called the Prague gate, it originally had three drive-through towers of which the strongest was not arched and abutted the two spans bridging the race of the Chrudimka river. A portcullis secured the tower, which bore a shield with the town's coat of arms as late as the early 19th century.

The second, middle, square-based gate was tall, narrow, plain with strong walls and a low, arched ceiling. Both of these gates were razed in 1822 to make room for the road to Vysoke Myto.

The third gate was not arched, was constructed of chiseled ashlars, and was secured by a portcullis.
